Birthday and cartoon

Today is my 68th birthday. I will "celebrate" by having an extensive CT scan focusing on the liver, gall bladder and pancreas. Your prayers are appreciated very much. In 45 minutes I get to "enjoy" the first of 2 barium banana shakes!
I enjoyed this cartoon on the editorial page of our local paper yesterday.

"But if you like your head, you can keep it"

"You buying this?"

  1. I wish you a happy birthday, even though it doesn't sound like it will be especially enjoyable. Good luck on the tests, and get back to good health soon!

  4. Happy Birthday, Ray! from darkest Peru,..I mean,..Bellingham...

No frost here yet--I thought we had a frost one night, but the hydrangeas, the hazelnuts, and the daylilies vehemently deny it.

As is often the case, its been rain, wind, dark and chill that has brought down the leaves--no frost needed. But a few of the deciduous trees and plants hold out quite well. The climbing roses are still pushing out moderately pale blooms, and the hydrangeas keep finding new color permutations to go through. The kale is three feet tall and looks like it might challenge me for dominance if I get too close.

That comic is certainly right on. I'm inclined to believe that the genre of past president jokes is about to undergo a dramatic expansion in the next few years, becoming quite richly varied and enduring--I wonder,.. is there a nobel prize for that?

We are and will be praying up here.
