Tennessee Fall Crop Tour

I took a quick tour around the neighborhood this morning to check the progress of local crops. Some corn has already been combined and much more is ready. (Please ignore the date on the photos...new camera hasn't been set yet).  We need rain badly; this creek is nearly dry.....might get some rain tonight.

Soybeans are at various stages. These double cropped beans are showing signs of drought stress.

Some hay still being baled, but most of it is low quality.

Cattle still grazing pastures, which need rain.

Our new road is now all striped and very nicely done!

  1. Hoping for rain tonight too, especially if it brings in some cooler temperatures and we can turn off the AC.

  2. This is a good idea...it would be interesting to compare each year, how the crops are progressing. The corn in your picture looks much drier than ours here, although it's drying down quickly. We're hoping to refill silos next week...the late corn still tested around 74% moisture yesterday. Beans are just starting to turn yellow as well.

    1. I picked an ear and chewed some (an old habit!). It is pretty hard and dry. Beans are in various stages, as some are planted early and some are second crop after wheat.
I'll look forward to some more harvest pictures from you.
